Boise, known as “The City of Trees,” has so much to offer. Did you know that in Boise Whitewater Park, you can actually surf? Biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding—you name it, Boise Whitewater Park has it.

At 1:17, you can hear from my buddy Garret Kerr of Candy Hour Media, who enjoys grabbing his board and riding the wave at Whitewater. According to Kerr, the wave was initially installed as a kayak feature, but was soon discovered by a few surfers who had relocated from different areas.
One such transplant was a professional surfer from Hawaii. He discovered that the wave could be altered to replicate different types of natural waves, and it wasn’t long after that a local surf scene emerged right here in Idaho!
